Ballinamore is known as the 'friendly town'. It is situated in South Leitrim along the Shannon Erne Waterway and is surrounded by many lakes.

It is a thriving rural centre for the surrounding parishes. Although it is now more of a peaceful tourist attraction, in years gone by it was a bustling market town.

Leitrim's information station

A nice feature in the centre of the town is the Courthouse (pictured below).

Further along Main Street is the newly built Leitrim County Library Headquarters. Each branch library organises activities, such as exhibitions, lectures, workshops, displays and children's activities.
