Other Environmental Initiatives
- National Tree Week:
National Tree Week is an initiative by the National Tree Council of Ireland, which celebrates the importance of trees in our life.
- Transition Towns:
The Transition Initiative is a local level response to the imminent pressures of climate change and peak oil. The aim is to support communities that want to take positive environmental action, as well as increase their ability to endure the inevitability of peak oil through decreasing energy usage.
- Energy Neighbourhoods:
This is a joint initiative between the North Tipperary and South Tipperary County Councils. The competition aims to promote the objectives of Ireland's Kyoto commitments by communities placing a bet with each other to save 8% on energy in one heating period.
- Energy Co-Ops Ireland
An organisation who support community based renewable energy co-operatives at every stage of their development, guiding them through the legal process of setting up a co-operative, advising them on their dealings with state agencies, introducing them to our network of co-operatives where they can learn from best practice examples, helping them communicate their message locally and nationally.
