GIY Waterford
GIY Waterford
GIY is a registered charity (CHY 18920) which aims to inspire people to grow their own food and give them the skills they need to do so successfully.
GIYers get together online and in community groups around Ireland so that they can learn from each other and exchange tips, ideas and produce. GIY meetings and membership are free and open to people interested in food growing at all levels, i.e. from growing a few herbs on the balcony to complete self-sufficiency, from beginners to old hands.
GIY Waterford meetings are usually held on the last Wednesday of every month in the Reference Room in Central Library , Lady Lane.
GIY Waterford was Ireland's first GIY group!

GIY (Grow it Yourself) are searching for six 'pioneer' families from around Ireland for Operation GIY Nation 2012. Each month between April and September GIY will post simple growing projects on their website that are designed to be simple and easy to understand.
At the end of the project the winning family will attend the GIY Gathering 2012 and receive €1,000 worth of GIY goodies.
There are only two criteria to becoming a pioneer family. Firstly, you must have children to help with the projects and secondly you must have little or no growing experience. The six selected pioneer families will receive a GIY Nation pack to get them started.
Interested families should apply via the GIY
