Doll's House

"The Doll's House" was once one of the best known structures in Cork. A fine example of Georgian architecture, it was formerly the residence of the City Sheriff. It was situated at the corner of Bachelor's Quay and Grattan Street. On the 18 July 1966 it was demolished as the structure was deemed to be unsafe. The cost of restoring the structure was regarded by both public and private bodies as prohibitive. Frank O'Connor's story The Saint and Mary Kate and Donal Giltinan's play Goldfish in the Sun are set in the Doll's House.
