Cork Camera Club collection, Cork City LibrariesMichael Holland, a multi-talented man, lived in the house on the North Mall, shown in the photograph. Holland, who lived from 1855 to 1950, was an artist, an expert on the history of Irish lace, a botanist and a respected local historian. He was a founder member of the Cork Historical and Archaeological Society and for many years contributed a feature on local history to the Cork Examiner. The house is a fine example of a Georgian structure.
